MORE DETAIL

  • HISTORIC RENOVATION / ADAPTIVE REUSE / WORKPLACE / TENANT IMPROVEMENT

The Vault located in downtown Denver, built in 1907, is a 9-story historic building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project encompassed 8 of the 9 floors, in multiple phases. Phase 1/2(2021-2022): minor renovations to Level 4, 6-9. Phase 2(2022): Complete renovation of Level 3.

Phase 3(2023-2024): the most notable, included renovations to Level 1 & 2. New design elements were incorporated ‘of this time’ to provide contrast with the historical elements on the interior, becoming seamlessly integrated. Scope of work included: relocating the main entrance from the side to the center of the building providing a central gathering space for the tenants, reception/receiving desk, and secure entry to the elevator banks; adding a communicating grand stair within the large bank hall between the floors; new glass guardrails; all new mechanical ducts; electrical; lighting throughout; restrooms and breakroom; elevator cab upgrades; furniture in the lobby; and a sculptural installation to the elevators.

Main Goals: All new design to be contrasted with existing historic elements for Levels 1/2; relocate the main entrance to the center of the building; open up the lobby; communicating stair between Levels 1/2; create a cohesive feel between all of the floors.

  • Serving as project manager and architect, directly coordinated with ownership, contractor, consultants, city officials, and internal teams to advance the design from schematic phases to built reality. Responsibilities included managing coordination efforts, scheduling, meetings, custom detailing, quality control, permitting processes, and ensuring compliance with Historic Denver requirements.
